Oh well, I love black and red rims, might be that they're a bit played out now, but it fits the red and black theme of my GTI

Today I changed some wear and tear parts:

and I realized that there's too much space under my oilpan

    Thanks for the great comments!
I still want to improve it a bit further...
My rims currently are 16x7J BBS RS as they came on the MKIII GTI 20 Years. They had the same design but as 6.5J width on the MKIV Golf... want to get a set of those and get them 1.5" welded up to the ouside to get some nice dropcenter, plus I could get rid of those thick spacers.
Of course they would get painted in the same color as my current set. Tires would stay the same size, think a 195/40 tire stretches just fine on a 8J rim
And I want to give it some more negative camber... and maybe drop it a little more, even though some speedbumps around here already can get nasty:

But the only thing that's set for next year by now is the engine swap... going to replace the 8V engine with a 2.0 16V ABF engine next year

My MKIII Golf GTI 20 Years - Daily Driver

So after looking through the forums for some time, I decided to create an account and show some pics of my daily driver...

This is what it did look like when I bought it 1.5 years ago

My other car is a 1986 VW Scirocco 16V GTX, but as it became a long time reconstruction, I got the GTI as a daily driver.
As it already was equipped with a 60mm Vogtland suspension, rims and everything, I just did some minor changes to it... different exhaust, Magnaflow 200cpi cat, different headlights.

I had to fix quite some rust too...

Had some problems with deep flying stones...

...and things didn't get better... on my first wet lap on the Nürburgring's Northloop I pushed it too hard...

...and just some months after I had all the metal work done, life hit me again...

    *Click*

...I repaired everything in just a day, and got all the parts together to get the GTI looking good again. But life again had different plans...

    *Click*

...it's no fun when truck tire parts on the autobahn rip your underbody apart... this time I was lucky though... the Police knew the Truck that lost the parts and I wasn't the first one...
The day after the tire accident I quickly fixed the metal parts, a quick and cheap paintjob on the hood, grill and left fender raised my cars value and made it look quite complete again.
With the help of a friend and surveyor, I got quite some money from the truck's insurance and I decided to pay all the mods from it I had in mind.

I already started to modify my second set of stock BBS RS722 16x7J rims that VW put on the 20 Years GTI in Germany... took them apart, sanded them ,etc etc.... I got myself a new set of Vogtland coilovers, EBC RedStuff Brakepads, ATE Powerdiscs, Goodridge Steel brakehoses, harder rubber bearings, etc.etc. all the good stuff...

My plan was to get everything done before the MIVW meeting in Holland, as short after the meeting, I would do a cartrip through Germany, Denmark, Sweden to visit a friend in Finland.
As, due to the long use, my driver's seat was done (you sat on the metalbar on longer trips) I got a set of Recaro seats from a GTI Edition model.

Part for part that I changed my car came closer to the image in my head... until it was done.

I wasn't really satisfied though, after MIVW I tweaked it even further, thicker spacers, more negative camber at the front, plus the removal of all the bump stoppers allowed to drop it more until I was satisfied.

After I was satisfied, I did my trip to Finland. It was an awesome experience and the GTI was the right choice for it... not just that it was a very comfy and fun drive, thanks to my car I even got to know some awesome people from Finland and Sweden...

Sure, my GTI is far from perfect, it could use a professional paintjob and some other things, but though it's done 292000Km (181440m) (bought it with 220000Km (137000m) it still gets me everywhere...

sure it sometimes rubbs and scrapes but hey.... every car has it's problems
