Other than that it was a pretty reliable car, just a little quirky. Luckily the dealer I bought it from did timing belt/water pump/etc etc before I got it.
As long as you get the car on a lift to confirm the AWD is functioning correctly and there isn't any weeping from the angle gear and it's been kept up on maintenance you should be okay.
The 2005+ models are definitely more desirable; they have color matched trim which helps it look a lot sleeker. Also (though I doubt you'd get an auto) the automatic transmission was torque limited for 2004 and so there was only 260lb/ft until third gear.
