Informal meets, working on your car in the garage, or going for long drives beats sitting at a big sponsored static car show any day, it all just feels so fake to me.

I often wonder how many people would still be into cars if there were no photographers, no forums, and no blogs to cover them. How many people would be happy if it was just them and their car. My opinion; not many.

I see your point Anth. But I think that's always been the way to some degree. You see heaps of 'modified cars' that are wheels, king springs and stereos. but get washed with the brush at the local car wash. "modifying" a car, has always been a popular past-time, I think it's just the effect of the internet, and the way its changing out lives (in so many ways!)

I'm with foff, usually about hanging out/roadtrips.
Show is just a set date as an excuse to get together and maybe see some cool cars with a raging hangover from the night before

I think that's half the reason why every time we go to a big meet we only last a couple of hours and end up wandering to the shops to grab bargains at glue
