Sucks about the turbo, but I can't wait to see this thing on the ground with those wheels. The work you put in is inspiring.

actually i have a question: so this is 18x10.5 +12 in the back, and on the 3000gt forums i go on they're all bitching at me about how far they'd stick out in the front (they're all purists that don't want a stanced vr4 pretty much.... too bad!) anyways they may be right, so what offset would be recommended for the front?

Annoying huh purists haha, we've got a lot of them too on the dutch Audiforum

What's the size of the wheels in the front? I don't think they're 10.5 J as well?

maybe 19"s would be better in the rear?

Welcome to the forums. That's a really dope car and it's awesome that you have such a close relationship with your dad.

I have total soft spot for the old VR4s (both the GTOs and Galants).

I can't be of too much help with offsets for your car to get a good fit, but I know you can definitely pull off 10s in the front with the right offset/wheel design that allows proper brake clearance.

Also, you definitely want to go with AT LEAST 18s to get the look you're after. GTOs are way too large of a car for 17s if you're trying to "stance" it.

Additionally, don't be scared of staggered wheel widths. The purists on the 3si forums are idiots and have no idea what they're talking about. You can run 9s in the front and 10s in the rear with different sized tires as long as you do it correctly. I'd be more than happy to help you out with determining what options will work with your drive train.

For a little inspiration, here was my friend's 3000GT when we were in high school:

Holy crap, I'm realizing those pictures are like 10 years old now. Good Lord I'm getting old.

that thing looks good! and thanks man i appreciate it! i was told that running different wheel sizes would fuck the transmission, but i realized as long as the small wheel has more meat on it to make up for the size difference it should technically be okay, right? and i would like to run 18's all around. all though my car pulls off 19's with ease, i'd rather run 18's and a bit more rubber for the kind of roads i have to drive on.

well that's pretty awesome. i was looking through the pictures that you provided, and turns out that i've had one of them saved for over a year probably. it's the picture with the turbo in focus out of the car, with the car in the back ground out of focus.

and i suppose that you might call me one of those 3si purists. i'm for wide wheels with wide tires, and the same all the way around. at least if it's for an awd vehicle.

have you heard of super car engineering? philip drives that "stanced" red second gen stealth. he's rocking 11 inch wide wheels all the way around without spacers i believe. he's got some crazy fender flares, but i think you could do it without mangling the fenders nearly as much.

either way, good job on the vr4! i'm probably just biased because she's red, but she looks great. i need to start taking better care of my baby.

**how close off were the wheels from fitting up front? was it only calipers that you were hitting, or were you also hitting struts? you should have taken pictures! like a small spacer's amount? upgrading to second gen vr4 brakes would probably get you a little closer to fitting those wheels.

ps, i think you may have stolen my life's father. i'll get over it.

you're welcome! and your paint looks nasty good in those freshly painted pictures.

haha, i do believe that i'm him.

and i'm not being hateful, but don't want your car to be like mine. the cars are already close enough to the same.what fun would it be if we had identical red vr4's.

i'm wanting to make it up to 10.5 all the way around next time i pick wheels. with at least 295's all the way around as well.

how close were those front wheels to fitting?
