It was more than a year ago when we first saw Blair Peterman’s ’78 Audi Fox as we drove down Ocean City’s main strip. H2Oi presents a chance to find some of the community’s best and most feature-worthy cars each year, and our afternoons are sometimes spent hunting down OC’s best. One of 2013’s most alluring cars was the white-topped Fox coupe, parked outside of Blair’s hotel.

Steven Garreyn is no stranger to low cars: through our attempts to communicate with a translator and broken english, I gather he’s owned more cars than he can even begin to recall. The one thing he does know, however, is that he’s lowered each car as much as possible.
Detail is a killer. That double edged sword of perfection and psychosis. Easily distinguished and recognized by the least observant onlooker, admired by all. To exercise detail takes attention to every bolt texture, every radius, each minute feature being primped and worked until a complete picture is realized. A labor of pleasure and pain to be sure.

I was recently asked a series of questions that, in short, asked “what does it take for a car to make it to the homepage of StanceWorks?” It was a tough question to answer; I responded with what I felt was rather simple: “We choose cars that inspire; cars with a story worth sharing.” The interview grew more difficult with the followup: “What makes a car inspirational? What makes a car snare your interest?” With that, I struggled.
Ten years ago, Tobais Aldirch came across what remained of a MK1 Jetta coupe; it sat nestled in the grass of a yard in rural Vermont — parked next to it was a MK1 Rabbit GTI. The old Jetta sat without an engine or driveline; its interior had been stripped, and many parts had been donated to the GTI it sat with. However, Tobi saw a diamond in the rough.
