It hasn’t been long since the Hoonigan team pumped out the last Gymkhana film, which took place on the wild streets of Dubai. This time, they’d dropped a gear, and brought the franchise back to its roots. Ken Block wrestles with his Ford Focus RS-RX through an abandoned industrial/train complex, bringing the video back to its roots with a refreshing taste of the original films. Give Ken Block’s Gymkhana 9: Raw Industrial Playground a go, and let us know what you think.
Head Hoonigan in charge, Ken Block, has taken his penchant for killing tires and created his most cinematic film to-date. Piloting his world-famous Ford Fiesta RX43, Block decimates its Toyo tires through the high-scale city infrastructure and into the exotic desert of Dubai. When 200+mph supercars, driving on two wheels and 1000+hp is hardly out of the norm, you can say Block had to pull out all the stops. Call our bluff.
Unless you’ve been under a rock, chances are you haven’t missed it: last night, around 9pm, Ken Block’s Gymkhna_Eight went live to the masses, introducing Dubai as the latest playground for his ever-impressive all-wheel-drive antics. In attending the world premier party, we brought along our cameras to capture some of what goes on behind the scenes on such a grand night.
The wait is over – Hoonigan and Ken Block have brought us the latest and greatest of the Gymkhana series. This time, Gymkhana 7 takes to the streets of Los Angeles. It’s perhaps our favorite so far… and if the sights of LA don’t get you, the car will.
With the mention of BBQ and Rally cars, it wasn’t long before I was headed up the 405 on my way to LA. The guys at Hoonigan and Fifteen52 recently moved into a new shop space to house the builds and contain a bit of their automotive tomfoolery. Recently dubbed ‘The Donut Shop’, the warehouse sits amidst the asphalt grid of Los Angeles’s industrial landscape and its concrete yard already shines with layers of tire residue.
