It was five years ago today that I funneled my thoughts through my keyboard and onto the StanceWorks homepage. In coming across this old gem today, I was reminded how little has changes, but how much we have grown. We set out on a mission to move the car community in a direction we saw as positive and reinforcing, and I like to think we’d made some serious strides. See our article from 2011 below, and let us know how you think it has aged 5 years on.
2011 was a fantastic year for us here at StanceWorks. It presented us with a massive number of opportunities, and as photographers at heart, we leapt at any opportunity to shoot. With 2012 already shaping up to be a big year, we wanted to take a look back on some of our favorite photos of 2011. Andrew and I each decided we’d give our photographic take on the year that has passed by posting up our best captures.
For me, 2011 was an important year as a photographer.
If you’re anything like your grandfather, there’s a chance that, a long time ago, behind his garage door sat something he cherished. Maybe it was American iron, or perhaps it was foreign steel. It could be that he waxed it every Saturday morning, or maybe he left it dirty after the Friday night races. One thing, however, is for certain: we have quite a bit to thank him for.
Andrew and I attended this years Japanese Classic Car Show in Long Beach several weeks back, but we never got our coverage up due to a litany of projects going on at the time. I will say it was a great event that certainly brought out some rare birds. Apparently, a lot of these cars stay behind closed garages most of the year so this show is a particular treat for the SoCal enthusiasts.
Last Saturday Fatlace hosted their first ever Japanese Hellaflush event at Fuji Speedway. There was a huge range of cars and styles, it was truly amazing too see them all together in one place.
I arrived pretty late in the day so I spent my time in a mad rush trying to catch a glimpse of all the cars before they left. Even though I was in a hurry I managed to get a lot of pics, so here are a few examples to show the quality and diversity of the cars on the day.
