another mercedes hopefully a little different

and so it began with this purchase a few years back for a small sum of money.. and it actually made the drive home

the idea was to fix it up for the wife.. a bit of luxury and style. But there was rust

i got a bit carried away

seen a few or those names before

so... during this time I had also concerned myself with the performance of the old girl on the way home. unfortunately the ol 2.5l 6cyl was a little smokey on startup and the auto didnt really enjoy shifting out of second.

Now being a german taxi of sorts, I had decided on replacing the driveline with something of similar status, but from the australia range of taxis. A 3.8l v6 out of a '98 commodore, hence the moocedes name as the engines are renound for producing a wot engine note similar to a cow. mang...

also in went the entire wiring loom

this was all fun for a while, but bought a new house and the poor thing got no attention for a bit over a year, but at least it was undercover.

after being all alone for so long, i thought it would be nice for it to have a friend. well actually I had been on the lookout for a parts car for quite a while. I was after a few odds and ends, especially a front window and some floor sections.

A non starter w115 2l was found and dragged back and quickly underwent a bit of weight reduction

after realising the parts car was in a lot better shape than the w114 project, they switched roles. And again off after rust we went.

dont really have any pics from there on. All sections of rust were removed and replaced. The left rear guard was removed and replaced as well.

It has sat like that for the past 8months or so, in the meantime I aquired a set 6.5" steelies and painted red, fitted some tyres and flappers, some 116 vented front disks and calipers, and a 3.07:1 rear differential to go with the v6 powerband.

I also dissasembled the rear half shaft and replaced the cv boots... absolute shite of a job.

only just now I got some time up my sleeve and im back into it

This thing is going to bee awesome. Good thing you swapped the engine. Those old engines are worthless anyway...
