Well ya I was asking both questions haha. I honestly don't think I would even know how to use it, is it too much for a complete beginner? And my morals start going out the window after every blurry/dark photo I take of my damn car.
it's absolutely worth $500, but who knows whether he would sell it to you with a lens or not. A kit lens only runs about $100 new anyway. It's a lot of camera, but it has the typical noobie settings that you can use while you learn it. Photography is a hobby where you get out exactly what you put in to it. Practice and shoot a lot and you'll find your pictures getting better and better, but having a nice camera won't get you anywhere if you don't learn how to use it.
