if you want to get good used items, check out the classified section on fredmiranda.com
You have to pay to be a member, but everything I've purchased from there (two canon L lenses) is very good and legit, especially as you have to pay to be a member.
My advice would be to pickup and entry level dslr, like the canon xsi and then just use the stock lens. It's not a terrible lens, and it will help you learn. Going out and getting a 28-135 is kinda a waste of money imo.
Learn to use the camera on manual settings only, that is the only way you can learn what each of the 3 golden functions do (iso, aperature, shutter speed). From there you will start to learn how to use a camera in most situations. And you will also develop a style for shooting. Find a regional car forum close to you, whether that's vwvortex or anything else, and there are always people around that shoot, and will go out on shoots with you to teach you/let you borrow some of thier stuff to see how it works.
That way you can figure out your next purchase in lenses/bodies/lighting etc. If you really get into it, you'll be spending more on camera stuff than on your car very quickly, lol.
But like I said, but an entry dslr, and don't waste money on lenses immediately. The stock lens will let you learn quickly, and then you can figure out what lenses you would like to purchase. Some photographers prefer buying a wide angle first, while some go for the extended zoom lenses, it's really just personal preference, and with experience you'll learn what you like.iiililillillliliil
