Taking sound clips - Best method?

Hi guys,

I'm always asked to make a sound clip of my car but how's the best way to get a good sound clip that actually sounds like my car? clearly the iPhone is a hunk of shit for video and sound clips...

Anyone got a good method? Good equipment without booking a recording booth?
