I was wondering if anyone here was a photography major? Or even took any classes during college. I'm thinking about switching over but I'd like to know what kind of assignments there'd be. I can't really imagine how it would be. Exams, Assignments, Lectures, etc.

I'm going to Brookes Institute in Santa Barbara, CA in a month. Should be amazing. I took about 6 or 7 photography classes in high school. I think the classes assignments and overall enjoyment of the class all depends on the teacher. If you don't have a great photography teacher you won't enjoy your class at all. If you can, just ask other students at your school how the photography program is. Ask them how well the teacher knows their stuff.

I went to Art Institute of Miami......if you want to pay for people just to critique your photo's just go ahead. You'll learn how to become a gallery artist though pretty much. If you decide to do it then just make sure you don't spend all your time on their assignment because the industry is looking for photographers with experience NOT a degree. Just my 2 cents..

Thanks a lot guys! But yeah, don't worry. I wasn't thinking about it to go and learn HOW to take a picture. I wanted to go in for the assignments, if they were any good. Does that even make sense?
Regardless. I'm probably going in double major for graphic design and business/marketing. I think where I'm at, I have a great start with photograph. I also have a good amount of experience with designing. Hopefully in the next 4 years the three will work together and help me out.

I go to The Creative Circus in Atlanta. I study under Kevin Ames and Theresa Sicuezza currently. They are proven industry professionals. I love every minute of it and if you could find somewhere like this, I would recommend it. They train us to be the top of the line professionals here. I wouldn't go somewhere that is a normal college but also provides a photography major. Try to find somewhere like The Creative Circus or even SCAD if you're serious about it.
