Advice needed... Lighting

Well looking into portable lighting.. not exactly sure where to start.. my buddy has a pair of Paul C. Bluff Einsteins which I love just don't have the money to get nor will I in the near future. So I looked at the alien bees which seem to be awesome but hat else s out there?! Can anyone help me out?

Yeah definitely a hobby as of right now.. I have an sb800 already I was looking for some stand alone strobes really I should of went a little more into detail on my previous post haha, but I'm kind of picky on crap on top of my camera -_-

If it's just a hobby I don't really see the point in spending loads on strobes and stuff.

You can get the same, if not better effects, by using flash guns, led worklights, torches and stuff and taking the time to light paint your work. (Especially if it's cars). If you want a bigger surface of light then use a flash gun with a large softbox diffuser?
