Some opinions and advice please

I know many of you on here are professional or semi-pro and wanted some opinions. My goal is basically capturing as much of my friends, families, and my life as possible. Just memories pretty much. I have a DSLR style body kodak.

Can anyone recommend free photo editing software? Just for the basics. I had the Kodak software that I got with my camera on my old computer but lost the disc

So tell me what you think of some of my pics. Any pointers, tips, c&c, etc. These are some of my best pics (I think ) from the time I got my camera last summer til now.

if you do some research you can pretty much get any software free. the only legit free thing i would ever use is gimp. but thats just me. Love the bridge shot though,

Thanks. I've done a little looking around but wasn't sure about downloading free stuff to my work laptop. I'll look into gimp tho.
