  • Olympus Photography

Whats goin on guys. My parents bought me a Olympus E520 for xmas a year ago and I really want to get into doing car photography. IDK much about the camera itself It came as a kit with a couple lenses. A few years back I looked into it and mostly found people using Nikons or Canons nothing much with the Olympus. SOOOOO im not really sure on what to do. Sell the camera get either a Nikon or a canon. Or B. Keep it learn it get new lens(s) work with it.

Also does anyone have any suggestions on getting started with setup and post processing???

    Thanks
    Mande

Just learn as much as you can with what you have now and if you really get into it you can jump to nikon or canon later. I'm not sure where your skills are at but if you're just getting serious about it don't worry so much about post processing now, just focus on taking a good picture.

Olympus are good cameras. I'm currently using a E3 and I can't fault it, much better then the Canon D400 I was using previously. Then again they are in different leagues

If you start looking for a good lens the out of the box 12-60mm f2.8 that come with the E3 is brilliant.

              Try different lighting and angles.
I think you will be happy.

I cant see the pics now, but Olympus are great cameras, really.
I used to do some great stuff with my old is50.

Switch it to manual and try to achieve different results while changing the aperture and shutter speed values

I'd suggest doing some online research about beginner photography. All cameras function the same way, it doesn't matter what you're using (to an extent). It'll be a while before you outgrow it.

                      ^This

Camera for Dummys would be a win I'm sure.
Making a light box for smaller things is relatively easy as well.

Quick question about the Olympus if anyone knows, when I go to shoot a photo with low lighting I get a flickering flash that is quite annoying, I was told it is a red eye reducer or something. Can I turn this off for shooting automotive pictures cause its plain stupid in my oppinion
