Got the camera couple days ago. Just been messing around with it. Attempted to take rolling shots....

Umm yeah MF + roller = a big no no. Slap it in AF Servo, low shutter speed (match the denominator to your speed is the rule I generally follow (no more than 1/60th though).

Looks like you had the shutter speed and what not down though. Check Carter N.'s photo advice thread, will be of great help to you.

Smooth road, preferably low light/overcast, auto focus, set shutter speed to match car speed ex 60mph = 1/60th. Spray and Pray...
