  • Sigma 10-20mm (f/3.5 or f/4-5.6)

    Hi all,
Im looking at picking up a wide angle zoom lens and I need some help deciding between these two.

Sigma 10-20mm f/4-5.6 EX DC HSM ($500 AUD)
    and
Sigma 10-20mm f/3.5 EX DC HSM ($639 AUD)

I mostly shoot cars and like random pics when im hanging with mates etc.
Basically I wanna know if its worth spending the extra money gettng the f/3.5.

Just as a side note, if anyone knows of other lenses that are in the same price range (wide angle zoom) that have equal image quality please share

I've been using the sigma f/4-5.6 for about a year now and love it. I mostly use it for car stuff and haven't once felt like I've been held back by it. So, I'd probably just save the money and get that one.

        I had a 4.5-5.6 and I ***** it. I sold it after about a year. I might have gotten a bad/soft copy, but still.

I have the Sigma 10-20 f4, and it's great. Sharp for what it is, and contrasty. Two other friends of mine that shoot Nikon liked it so much, one bought a f4 copy and the other bought the f3.5. I only really use it for cars but I did use it for a couple events with both on and off camera flash and it was great both times. That said I got mine for $350 Canadian, which is about $355 USD now.. Keep an eye out for used!

Also I heard the 11-16 f2.8 Tokina is great too.
