  • Gopro HD Hero?

So is anyone using a Gopro HD hero motorsport?

Everything I see from them looks great. They are very inexpensive and indestructable.

If there is anyone using them, I would like to here what you think and see some of your shots or clips.

I ride a sportbike and do some trackdays with it and would like the Gopro for that mainly but I would like to see what else it can do.

    Gordo.

Haven't used the HD yet personally.

Video quality is great during the day, during night it's decent. It is decently shock proof, and compared to the competition awesome.

Audio quality is shit, but that is to be expected with such a small package.

    Defiantly worth the purchase.

But, if you are looking to compare, check out the Contour HD.

I have one, and the quality is amazing, I haven't taken any amazing footage with it as far as content, but I'll try to upload some footage via vimeo and link it on here. It's crazy too because the case it comes with enables it to go underwater to a certain depth and that's crazy for that price, usually cases for that kind of stuff are expensive.

I just got one for Christmas. They are VERY nice, with the wide angle lens capturing a lot of the surrounds of what you are filming. For example the interior of the car + the outside through the window...

This is really hard to describe, I'll just upload my first few test shots.

On the CONS side of the chart? Absolutely terrible night videoing.

Thanks guys, youtube is full of peoples vids done with the gopro and I know that they give great quality that way, but I kinda wanted to see some stills done with it. Does the wide angle only give a strange perspective and that is all it is good for?

the quality for the price is undeniable. Not to mention all of the mounting options. I am totally sold.

                  Very cool vid. Interesting placements.

Here is one of my friends vids done with nine gopros mounted during the knox mountain hillclimb . Marcel is a sponsor motorbike racer and does some great editing, very quickly too.

I think that they have done some updates on the audio filtering just to keep the wind sound from being annoying.
That vid took him only about a half an hour to edit. I guess the more you do the better you get. There is even one part in the vid where he some how has the camers pan a bit. It must have been done with editing because it was a solid mount camera...good effect though.
I am still trying to find a cheaper source for them in canada...there is about $150 difference if I buy it in the states, but gas to the border and back eats up any savings made.

                      Gordo.

Our wonderful Canadian customs laws suck shit. It would cost the shipping (cheap) plus the applicable taxes, then a customs charge, then a brokerage fee for the customs charge. All in all when we look at the cost of something from the states, it would be double the cost. So, if I can get it shipped to a spot near the border (there are businesses that specialize in this) and just drive down and get it myself it is usually a big savings on larger items.

That vid is so well put together. That road is so much fun to drive that the city put four speed bumps on it and they are only removed for the race every year. Our shop is just down the steet from it and it is our test drive area.

I know if I get a gopro then four of the guys I ride with will get them too and then we can start to get some footage as good as that vid. Track days will be mad.

                          Gordo.
