  • Post Processing Input

Working on some photos in Lightroom. I JUST got it and am still figuring things out. I grabbed Photoshop Elements as well to do more editing than processing. This is just done in LR.

    Input please?

I know the front bumper and side of the car are a little underexposed. This is one of the worst composed shots, but I wanted to start from the bottom, find what I like and see what it can do to my "nicer" shots. These were shot in Medium mode on my T2i. I am going to start shooting in RAW for now on.

Edit thanks to Kielan (Saturation caused a little yellowing in the original. Added some fill light)

    Edit 2:

I just grabbed my photo from above and put it into Elements 5...old school because Im tired of waiting for 9 to download. It is closer but I worked this photo a few times on a few computers and programs so it isnt going to be perfect (decent) until I can get into my new program.

    Thanks!

    -Brandon

Little less saturation, some more fill light, and check that white balance its a little yellow.

Yea I see what you mean. I posted the edit below. I love shots with lots of shadow/highlights so I sometimes over compensate a little.

I havent figured it out in LR yet but I know how to do it in editor once it downloads.. but I think the wheels are a little underexposed. Would it be wise to add some light to the wheels? Also, right by the passenger side wiper is something. Dont know where it came from but I plan on editing it out.

Reflections in the windshield are hard to do.

If you had a CPL filter, I think you could have had a really nice shot, as the reflections wouldn't be as bad.

I dont, but I would like to know what you did and in what program. Looks like you hit the shadows/highlights in PS.

I am going to do something similar once my software finishes downloading. I like the effect on the background, but it ended up darkening the front and side of the car back to how it was incorrectly done in the first place.

well if i had more time and orig file (preferably raw) id do more with tonemapping
not fond of lots of dark areas i got
and yes i do everything in ps, i just find it faster for my work-flow and i don't use lightroom at all, ps can do everything lightroom can )

also this shot is missing a polarizing filer (like Kielan say) - the reflections on the hood and windshield are too strong - well imo ) im not much of a photographer after all ..

Gotcha. Yea this isnt a great shot, hense why I am just bullshitting and if I can learn to make this half decent I should be able to work my other shots with ease. Im still waiting for PS to download, it is being retarded.

Latest of the original shot. I think it is pretty close. I just need to get it into PS. LR kind of sucks, I resorted to uploading it on my old computer with Elements 5 circa 2005 to get some editing done..

Muting the cyan in the reflections on the car was what I was about to suggest. Biggest difference.

Lightroom far from sucks, and you should be shooting in RAW.

Yea it is alright, just takes a little time. Yes, DEFINITELY need to shoot RAW. Just something I overlooked at the time. I feel that light room will be a bit more handy then.
