Im looking at buying a new camera. how about some help?

I know nothing about cameras. Right now I have a crappy Sony point and shoot thats old as fuck. Im looking to stay with something thats a point and shoot too. Im not looking to get anything crazy, no dslr. photography isnt really my thing, but I at least like to be able to take pics of what Im up to or where Im at to show friends and family and the such. One thing I really do like about the dslr cameras ive used in the past, is the really fast action they have. on mine, if i try to shoot something that is on the move i often miss it cause it takes so fucking long to actually take the pic. so that is the main thing im looking for, especially since i spend so much time at car related events. i think all of the nicer cameras ive used have been Canons, but since I dont really know anything Im not brand biased. My price range is probably $3-400. Ive been looking through Newegg and sites like that, but I really have no idea what Im even looking at hahaha. Anyways, help a brother out

I shoot with all Canon and LOVE it! 5D is insane and does some killer HD vid also... for your price range I would say the G series hands down but I also have heard a ton of great stuff about the Nikon p series as well... either way, stick with Canon or Nikon and you'll be happy!

I will never buy another Nikon Point and Shoot again. No matter what type/brand of batteries i use it drains them fast. Worst camera purchase so far.

I was gonna buy the G Series, but then I got some car parts instead. lol maybe in the spring I'll be looking at cameras again. until then, I'll keep using the BlackBerry
