  • kingston sold me counterfeit product

user "kingston" had some beats by dr dre for sale here on the forum.

i bought em, found out they are counterfeit, PMed him about getting my money back, but the dudes ignoring me. it shows if the message is read or not, which i dont think he knows.

dont know what else to do. it was my bad for not researching before buying them, but his bad for selling fake stuff and he probably knew it. he sold em for $80 shipped. and they retail for $160+ on the monster site..

    just warning everyone.

you guys think i should just bite the bullet or keep trying to get my money back

What makes you say they are fake? Why would anyone fake a set of headphones?

How are they fake... Typically earbuds go for a lot less even if they are used a few times because they go into your ear and get nasty and such faster. I have yet to see replica Beats, and doubt anyone would want to make them because they already sound like trash anyway.

There are a bunch of discussions on fake vs real Dre headphones out there, but unless you have a set from a reputable store like best buy or something to compare them to i think it would be hard to tell if they are fake.
            Here are a couple.

If this dude sold you the real deal he would probably be here standing up for himself...
Regardless all in ear headphones sound mediocre, for a hundred bucks you can get some sweet sounding cans.

Maybe he's on vacation and not at home.

look on google, youtube, its every where.

i should have done research before i bought them.

since theyre the earbud style, theyre the easiest to counterfeit. every aspect of the headphones that i purchased from him are fake. the logos on the head phones are crooked, some peices are plastic instead of chrome or metal. you can even tell from the box.

no they sound bad compared to the real ones, which i just bought.

                        here's a comparison:

difference in box, larger is real, smaller is fake

dr. dres face, lighter is real, darker is fake

tabs, real has indent, fake is a flap

box binding, real has double binding, fake has one binding

case placement. fake is off center, real is centered

zipper direction. fake zips from right to left, real zips from left to right

headphone direction, real ones face eachother, fake ones face outward

L & R signs, real ones are clear and centered, fake are blurry and faded, off centered

ear buds, real comes with 7 pairs, fake comes with less

font and color difference, its all over the warranty, case, box, where ever there is type, you can differentiate.

True. Well good luck with everything, and enjoy the real ones.

                            damn.
                            hopefully everything works out.
but... just so you guys know, they make fakes of everything.
sneakers, laptops, mp3 players, memory cards, DSLRs, cologne, furniture, you name it, they make it.
if its too good to be true, it usually is.

                              File a paypal dispute...

You also have his address, and phone number from paypal, report him to the authorities if you want to take it that far.

There is a chance that he himself didn't know that they were fake, and sold them because of the poor (well poorer) sound quality that he had, and that's why he sold them for so cheap.

I wouldn't just jump to conclusions.
