  • anyone into DJ stuff?

just got my Vestax VCI-100SE from djtechtools.com and I must say, this shit is addicting! anyone into DJing (whether you call it mixing, DJing, scratching, crontrollerism, w/e) on stanceworks? If so, show us your setup and tell us what kind of music you like to butcher

I like trying to chop and screw rap songs and screwing up dubstep and techno songs too. the hardest thing for me to do right now is find songs that i can mix together that fit and dont sound shitty. keeping the flow steady with the beat is pretty tough too. Its hella fun when we have parties though.

I dabble. I'm not very good, and I don't have any equipment, I just do it all in Virtual DJ.

I like to mash up hip hop with songs you would never think of putting them together with. Like Party and Bullshit and Party in the USA, or Day N Nite with Love Story.

ive always had interest in doing it, but never looked into it too much. with my recent dubstep obsession, i'm really wanting to start dicking around with it.

I have a VCI-300. I have done a few house parties and a wedding. The biggest I have done had about 400 people and I made some good money. I normally mix what is recommended by the host/hostess, but on my free time I love mixing hardstyle. I play off a some stacks and a nice amp. The only thing I dont like about Vestax is Serato Itch. It always freezes on me and I cant have Itunes while im using it. I had the VCI freeze on me once during a party, but luckily the 300 keeps playing the songs even if it freezes, and I was able to get it back running without anyone noticing.

Did you recommend that I give this kid that you're talking about a listen? Greg Golterman? Or am I thinking of someone else?

Im really into mashups, and am one of those guys who can hear a song on the radio and start singing another song over top of it, but unfortunately I dont have the funds for the equipment to make my own. If I did, I'd be all over it. Back in high school I was fortunate enough to take a class that taught me all about midi and how to use Reason and Pro Tools, both of which I was able to lay down some decent tracks on, but I haven't had access to either program since then. I've always been looking to get back into it, but my funds have never really permitted me to do so.
