My grandfather is in his mid-seventies, great guy, pretty charitable. In his garage sits a 1989 e34 525i that is hardly ever driven (I wish I had pictures). I think the last time it left his garage was when he got a few mechanical odds and ends taken care of. It runs, and is in great shape, save a few tarnished areas of paint. It's even sitting on a nice set of rs's! I don't know the specs, but they are curb rash-free, and really just need a good polish.

So, the question I am posing is this: How would you guys convince a sweet old man to give you his BMW? I'm one of those guys who feel bad asking my family members to hand me anything, but this seems way too great an opportunity to pass up.

have a long conversation about cars. bring up his car later on. say how you want it really bad, and ask him what you would have to do for it. or just give it to me.

If they're really bbs rs wheels, your grandfather will just laugh and probably "get on his level".
If they're stock 1pc style 5s, just play the help-me-i-need-a-car card.

Tell him you like his car and would like to scrape the ground with it and rape the fenders with wheels that stick out, he'll understand

Being straight up about things usually makes it best.
