I'm not sure if this has made national news or not, but I'm sure there will be a blurb about it soon if there hasn't been yet.
On May 1st, 2010, an all time record rainfall poured at least 6.32 inches of water down in a day. Some reported 14-17 inches. The rainfall continued and continues into today, causing floods and decimation never before seen here. Over 600 water rescues have been performed so far, and I know of at least one friend's family of nine people who are sitting on the roof of their two story house just waiting and calling 911, hoping that someone will be able to help them soon.
For those others of you here in Nashville, I hope that your families and friends are safe. My thoughts and prayers are with you.
Being as I had to get out and about today to ensure my children's safety, I did what any of us would do. I packed an emergency / first aid kit, dry clothes for those that might need them, a few spare blankets, and of course my camera bag. Here's one that I managed to grab. For the full, VERY minimally processed, set go here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/hovercm...7623978614768/
This is actually only about a quarter mile down from my house.

click through to see who the child is.
Again, my thoughts and prayers are with anyone and everyone that has been, or will be affected by this.
