Okay, but seriously. Here's some stuff you need to keep in mind. It's a lot, so just bear with me. Here goes. The car you want may not be the car you need. It may just be the car you want. As in, you WANT to have a supercar-slaying hyper car with AWD, heat and cooled, heavy bolstered seats, heated mirrors, a retractable roof, maybe some tint, and a nice set of one-off multi-piece wheels. You could even have it painted a custom color to have it be completely one-off. You could pay a coachworks establishment to build you a custom-body car. Seriously, look it up. But, at the end of the day, what you really need is a 1997 Honda Accord with the F23A4 engine, 5-speed transmission, four doors, cloth seats, electric windows, cruise control, and air conditioning that only works for a few minutes. But you're asking about a MK3 GTi and a B5 A4, so let's just go from there.
The car you should buy should fall into some criteria. It needs to have four wheels, four tires, a set of brakes at each corner, some suspension bits, a firm chassis, an engine, a transmission (probably best for you to get an automatic), some doors, some windows, a windscreen, door handles, a steering wheel, a gear selector, some lights, some turn signals, maybe a radio, and some seats to sit on. Now, the MK2 Rabbit is a great car, but they only come with Rotary engines and a CVT transmission, so that probably isn't what you're looking for. And, the B3 Passat only comes with a Boxer 5 cylinder engine and a manual 2-speed transmission, without any plaid shirts or skinny jeans pre-installed. Both, however, have coilovers available from Rota and XXR, and with the common bolt pattern of 7x163.19, you can fit almost any wheel from a Hummer and tuck tire with +4 degrees of camber.
So, after listing all of the extensive reasons why you want to buy a Civic or a Camry, and all of your criteria like budget, mileage, transmission preference, and overall goals for said car, I would stay with my suggestion of getting a Kia Rio.BB6 Prelude . . What's your budget look like?
What's the end goal for the car? (Daily driver, project car, etc.)
What's your list of "wants" look like? (color, transmission, year, etc.)
I would say stay the hell away from the A8 and the MK6, but that's just me.BB6 Prelude . . E36 ///M3 . . VA WRX Limited . . 1969 Nova

Not going to lie, it had me dying. The reason I asked it's cause the wife said no more project cars. Though I know I will mod it just a little.
Budget- 19.5k
End goal- Daily
Wants- grey,luxury,manual,09 and above.
Have to admit it's harder choosing when your are married.
