  • Road trip "stop" suggestions, TN->NY

    Hola

I live in Albany and will be attending Import Alliance '10 in Nashville, TN with some friends on July 17-18. I will be staying near Ocean City, MD for the week before that so I will be leaving from there and going to Nashvilly by myself unfortunately, everyone else is obviously coming from NY not MD lol. I plan on "straying" from the main 65mph highways twice on my way from Ocean City to Nashville.

    #1 Skyline Drive in VA:
It runs parallel to 81 and is supposed to be one of the most scenic roads in the eastern US. A few pics (I embedded one and attached one, one is a panoramic):

#2 Tail of the Dragon in NC/TN:
Does this really need a description??? lol

So that takes care of TO Nashville, then there's obviously the show and shenanigans, then on Monday we leave and we're going North *roughly* through KY, OH, PA then NY. This is a 16 hour drive and obviously we want to break it up with a few cool stops.

    Our ideas:
    -Niagara Falls
    -Indianapolis Motor Speedway/Museum
-Something in Detroit if we go North-West to Indy??
-Bowling Green Corvette Museum/Factory in KY

Basically, I'm looking to see if anybody has any other suggestions of places to stop in KY, OH, IN, MI, western NY, etc. etc etc. I've only (flown) to Cincinnati before so this will be my first time "exploring" some of the Mid-western states and any suggestions you guys have of sweet roads to take like the ones I am taking from MD->TN or cool places to stop and eat or take an hour break would be awesome!!!

    Thanks
    Ryan

A true roadtrip's stops are decided by your car when it breaks down.

Haha well I'm actually staying in Bethany Beach, DE but no one knows where that is so I just put OC.

            Any suggestions, midwestern people?

Ahhh, thats practically right next door. How many nights?

You might hear me rubbing on down the road some time during your stay. Still, not much to do this time of the year. That place gets pack though come a few more weeks. Party heaven!

Phenomenaly hot rich girls out the wazoo! Watch that speed limit. The towns a mile long but they have cops on every other corner.

Where are you from in Albany? My GF's from Schenectady or how ever the fuck its spelled and all her friends are from Albany. I smoked a blunt under that giant Egg thing. That was cool.

Staying 4 or 5 nights in DE. If you see a red AW11 MR2 on BBS RSs in DE or MD between July 10-15, that's me

I'm 5 min from Albany and 10 min from Scumectady (Schenectady), gotta love the egg!

And yeah I have plenty of experiences with the OCPD from H2OI 2009

Good call on skyline drive. I drove on it to fill the last seven hours of my learners permit back in the day. Definitely as beautiful as it is fun to drive.

I have family in Harrisonburg so I'm there a few times a year and one of my aunts has one of the highest elevation houses in town, the view is really incredible. I love the Shenandoah Valley!

^ Wow. I really envy the fact that you get to see that a few times a year. Scenic routes + cars is possibly the greatest combination of anything ive ever heard of...
