  • Saab enthusiasts rejoice, there is still hope!

The website is in swedish but i'll do my best to translate the important bits.

''After a almost 3 year stop it's time to restart the production of Saab cars once again. On Monday the first new Saab will roll out of the factory.''

''Since the 5th of April 2011 there has been no activity in the Saab factory in Trollhättan. That's the date when a number of subcontractors stopped their deliveries to Saab becase of unpaid bills. Production never restarted and 8 months later, more exactly the 19th of December, bankruptcy was a fact.''

''Now after barely 20 months, production has once again started in the Stallbacka factory. Now it's the company Nevs (National Electric Vehicle Sweden) who's in charge. (pun intended)
Just before lunchtime on the 28th of November this year the production began and the first new Saab is expected to leave the factory at 13:25 GMT+1 on the 2nd of December 2013.''

''The first car to leave the factory will be a Saab 9-3 Aero Sedan. It will not be sold to anybody in Sweden but will according to TTELA (Trollhättans newspaper) be exported to China. It's still unclear if the engines used will be from GM or not.''

So, now is the big question. How many here on stanceworks are excited about Saabs revival?

Too bad they're not coming back to America anytime soon. I'm still really happy to see them start production again, especially for the town of Trollhatten.

I also heard the engine is still a 2.0 Turbo with 220HP, not sure of its origins. (Some people are speculating BMW)

    It's a work in progress^
