  • Is teen pregnancy ok now?

Every time I turn on mtv "teen mom" is on. If you don't know what that show is, well them you been living under a rock for the past year. The fact that they actually have a show about 16 year olds getting pregnant on a television station directed towards teens is shocking to me. I guess it is to spread the word about teen pregnancy in america being a problem or that its hard to raise a kid at a young age. But still....

Hell even one girl is 15 years old. When I was 15 I was spending time with friends just living life without a care. I didn't even care if I had a girlfriend or not let alone worrying about if a girl is pregnant.

Now, my sister got pregnant at 15 (I was completly against it but she wanted to get pregnant! long story, but she had a miscarriage) You would think my parents would be ashamed right? Wrong, they supported her and actually were happy that she was pregnant. One of my best friend got this girl pregnant and she is due any day now, and their parents supported her too! Every girl I dated in middle school, is pregnant now and they're happy about it!

You would think teen pregnancy would be looked down upon now but with all the shows, friends having kids, and my family supporting it I can't help wondering if teen pregnancy is ok now?

i think teen pregnancy was suppose to be teaching them how hard it is not learning how to make a baby lol i'm sorry about that 15 is really young

I would rather loose a finger then get a girl pregnant at my age, 19. Its the fact that people are ok with it now I guess. It confused the hell out of me.

I think he gets it but still. A running program on MTV about it I could understand if it was a special and STRESSED hard about the dificulties.

This. They don't stress how hard it is or the problems they have now that they have a kid. Its more like them having a kid then trying to keep the relationship.

I mean the teens parents take care of the kid over half the time. When I have a child, ill be damn if my teenage has a kid and expects me to raise it while they forget it ever happened.

                  +1

the other thing is that the people on those shows are getting paid to be there. who knows maybe 10Gs a show. They dont really have it hard, they are makin loot off the whole season. John and Kate +8 anyone? They make it LOOK like it was tough to raise 8 kids, yet they were making MILLIONS off it. They bought the house with that money, their van was given to them, clothes, furniture etc.

You have 8 kids in real life and no TV show, you are up shits creek with no paddle, and unless your husband is a CEO of some multimillion dollar business, life is gonna be REAL hard.

So are they really having a tough time or are they just 'acting' like its really tough (when mom cant watch the kids anymore cuse shes gotta work, and now the teen gets all mad and shes gotta find a babysitter) to create drama on the show to get you to watch it...

I think, like every other MTV show (Jersey Shore is a prime example of this), take a reality TV show to a whole new level, make it 'reality' but have a whole script behind it (if you dont think Jersey Shore is scripted get your head outta your fucking ass)

I think its just a bad idea to market in general. Who knows if its makin these kids think 'oh maybe i will get pregnant and they will come to me and ask me if they can put me on the show'

^exactly. The whole concept behind the show just throws questions in my head. Its just like having daycares in high schools now. It seams like a good idea to "help" teen parents but what is it really doing you know?

+1. The show enables teenagers to get into that state of mind, and then the parents on the show enable their kids to pass it off as no big deal. If you want your kid to be successful in the long run, you have to show them responsibility and tell them to take initiative now. Sure, they'll probably **** you for a while but that, IMO, is what comes with being a decent parent. MTV fails.
