I'd like to run 17x8 and 17x9 offsets around 15-20

I thought about the sidemarker thing, but to do it you have to bake the lights to soften the glue and then pull them apart to take out the yellow. Not sure if I want to do it...lol

yeah thats why I didn't bother doing the HID retro fit for my car, well that and the fact that it costs 400-500+.
I say buy an extra set to fuck up, bet you could get them cheap off ebay\junkyard\etc.
