Ive never tethered mine to a router. I have the droid 2 global. I run a usb cord from phone to laptop. Have to enable usb debugging on phone, then enable ET on your comp. Not sure where the router comes in. Its a very easy program to run and will give you a step by step.

Oh I meant router as in the tethering app that I installed on my WM phone, which is called WMwifirouter. I can tether via wifi, usb, or bluetooth.

So this EasyTether, uses your data plan right?

Essentially yes. I only use it when I'm in the car on long trips. If you were to use it all day, everyday your provider would probably recognize your data usage and question it. I have not had any problems since I downloaded it more than a year ago.

Clearly he doesn't want you to take pictures, so just leave it alone, so far from the one car you have said. It doesn't sound like its a great collection to begin with.

I haven't had any problems with my tethering as far as costs went, and I've been using this since the beginning of the year. I use it everywhere my laptop goes, unless I have better access at some place.

No worries. Yeah I'm at school so everywhere I go there is internet access so I havent worried about tethering lately. I only have it on my old laptop and it runs great.

So yeah, even though there's nothing wrong with my phone besides a few minor scratches, I've been wanting to upgrade to an Android because of the countless apps but was worried about the tethering fees I've heard/read about providers cracking down on those apps.
