mr dave what, in your opinion, are the best set of separates one can buy? I'm really looking into JL C5's. they seem really nice, don't need much power, come with crossovers. You seem to know your shit when it comes to this stuff. Also trying to keep the price below 1k for 4 speaker and tweeters.

for that price range, i like Alpine Type-X. Ive never been a big fan of JL separates.

Another really good company is Focal. Im not sure what they offer under $1000, most of the sets I installed were $1500+

good question. i was thinking of either getting a small jl amp with the c5s or right now i have a little 200 watts bose stock amp. But I'm looking at these alpine type x pros and i can get them alot cheaper so ive got a lot more cash to pay with for an amp

yea, the type-x pros are great and not too expensive. Ive installed maybe 15-20 sets of them. make sure you buy a quality amp though. the JL ones are good, and efficient. Dont buy an Alpine amp. they are clean, but they are an inefficient use of power. Youd have to get a really powerful Apline amp to equal a JL of lesser power

oh thats cool cuz i fuckin love the way jl amps look lol. once i get some quality mids and highs im upgrading my w3's to w6's and getting the jl 1000/1 v2 amp, so i definitely want something loud and crisp.
