I've been looking and it looks like they can be had for dirt ass cheap. Which means I would keep it on the side and make it nice till it was nice enough to drive around a bit.

Yeah... As long as the rust is minimal I wouldn't mind getting a slightly beat up one. If the interior is shot (apart from the dash) not a huge concern, most of it would be replaced anyway.
