Because their and there do not even come close to meaning the same thing. Grammar is what makes sentences easy to read and understand, when I have to read things a few times (not that I did that time, but there have been cases with you were its like "WTF is he trying to say.") it is just annoying when you easily could have used the correct form of the word.
