Spiders are poisonous, and often much harder to find. A snake I can just leave the house, call animal control and problem is solved. A spider, requires me to burn my house down.

I guess we don't get poisonous spiders in the UK, so I have no reason to fear them.
We just sat there and waited for him to leave.
