I do it, I did because a private school that offers what I want costs more, and there are only a few schools nation wide that had the major I was looking for...
We have one of the best business programs in the nation, (if not the best not 100% sure though)
that makes it more understandable, but usually when your state school doesn't offer your major the school (edit: if it is an out of state public school) that you go to will discount your tuition pretty heftily (at least that's what i hear from my friends)
best in the nation? lol try Wharton

I don't remember what program it is, but one of our business programs is the best in the nation. I've never heard of that discount though, I will definitely have to look into that, because it looks like there is a hefty tuition hike coming next year.
Agreed, I've visited a few friends at other schools, we definitely go the hardest here, BUT, its not all about partying. The education you are getting here is amazing. We have one of the best business programs in the nation, (if not the best not 100% sure though), most of programs are ranked among the top in that nation. 150+ majors to choose from, tons of sports, clubs, people, there is a reason I went here and partying was not a factor at all.
yea the guy from mad money on cnbc, jim kramer was there a few years ago for a show. they played the zombie nation chant like 1000 times, and he loved it
I would definitely go asking around at some of the admin. offices at the very least. tell them you came here for this specific major/program that you couldn't get at your state school and that if they hike up tuition then you will heavily consider a transfer. in all likelihood they won't do anything, but crazier things have happened, some chick at my school got hit by one of our buses and now gets free tuition!
I know, I pay out of state tuition its, 40k a year for me. I got 5 grand in scholarship.

This is quite true.

holy shit so you're going to owe about 115k when done?!?!
I really hope the job you are looking to get out of this starts at least 60k a year.
Even with that much you're going to be paying that off for the next 5-10 years.
And good luck trying to get a place in CT with that kind of debt

well if she sued the school she most likely would have gotten more than what tuition costs, so to avoid the lawsuit they gave awarded her free tuition and saved themselves a few hundred thou

Well luckily I don't have to pay for my tuition (my parents pay and I'm extremely grateful for that), but in reality most schools are around this price now-a-days anyway, you've just been out of the loop for a while.
And after I graduate I fully intend on living no where in CT, I really want to go live out west in the PNW ideally.

Nah, its a standing policy that most schools with transport have.

That's happened here too. (Bus incident haha)

Nope... They have loans out and such to pay for it, and my mom got a job not too long ago as well. Trust me, its not as easy as it sounds for them. They believe that it will give me a better chance to be successful after college if I don't have to deal with a shit ton of debt.

I feel so lucky whenever i hear people talk about the extreme (imo) tuition that they pay. gotta love instate w/ scholarships. i pay for all 4 years close to what my friends will pay in 3 semesters
You know who Jason is? Anyone here read the Bible or know most of the stories etc? Who's the guy that stands at the gate and decides if you get into heaven or not? That's Jason. He processes everyone in the intro threads and welcomes them.
