Scratch a knife a few times (perpendicular to the blade), I've actually heard that works.

Not sure. Strings are tough on the fingers. Acoustic that is, Electric is a little easier because they are a softer string.

I really couldn't tell you if its true or not, I have never even attempted to play guitar. Just something my friend told me when he started playing again.

Music is in my family a little. My grandpa played piano in a Jazz band with his friends. My uncle is a guitarists, my sister plays clarinet and piano, and I play guitar.
