Chrome is only going to go downhill from the second you get it back. You can't polish out scratches in chrome, and good luck fixing it when it flakes off when you mount tires.

So then stop being a cheapass, pay someone to polish your lips the right way, and clear over them once they're polished. You can polish out scratches on the clearcoat.
