I have about $30k debt, but it is government loan, so once i start earning over $50k, I will get taxed like 10% extra from my income to cover the loan

EDIT: Thread is moving fast as hell today.

Well I had in-state tuition, so it was cheaper than out-of-state (a weird thing they do in the US), but I didn't have a job during college and my parents couldn't afford to cover any expenses of mine.

In the interest of not being distracted from my studies by also working, I took out private loans through Chase to cover my entire four years of college, which turned into five.

I'm just under 40k in the hole on my school leans. I've already paid off a couple g's over the past year and a half. Other than that the only debt I have is my credit card, but after I get paid this week, I plan on paying that completely off.

My credit rating is really good, but when I went to get pre-approved for a mortgage last week I was told i would only be able to get a loan for about 80K since my school debt. Oh well. School will be paid off in 10 years.
