They do when you replace them with a lower-mileage one.

First motor popped in it a month after we got the car. Her mom's boyfriend forgot to check the oil in it, and didn't realize it hadn't been changed in over a fucking year.

Bought one for $2,500 with 50k on it, replaced it, been butter since. Except now the transmission is noisy and fucked.
