I'm not concerned so much about performance. I'm just looking to enjoy the car, which ever variant it ends up being. The only problem is that I don't want to get the vert and regret it... Not sure why I wouldn't like it but it might be one of those things that I don't like after living with it for a little.

The only issue, if that's your concern, would be additional parts to replace if the top starts going on the fritz. Can't say that's a major issue though -- we don't have many (if any) E36s come in with top problems. Even our Z3M roadster hasn't had a single top issue.
