one of my installers told a customer once "that sounds is your system clipping. its like, when the waves are squared off instead of rounded. if I had an oscope, this would make more sense"
they were just like "my shit sounds like a club son!"
well most people that buy sound systems are from a certain demographic....

lol, those dudes have that shit clip like a 1/4 of the way up and then blame it on the equipment being shitty.

Thats what I was doing I wasnt sure if there was a method or not. Put on some mercy and bumped away
I have never had subs in any car I have driven on a regular basis so I dont know shit about them.
I dont know what mercy is
the way I tune:
-turn gain and LPF all the way down
-turn radio volume to 85% or slightly louder than what the normal listening volume is. which ever is louder and isnt distorting.
-turn gain to about 33%
-adjust LPF until it sounds proper (I know what that means. and there really isnt a way to describe it)
-further tune the gain
if there is a bass knob, there are 3 options
1. set it on fire
2. throw in trash
3. smash into tiny pieces

for a couple years rockford really fucked things up with their bass knob. if the knob wasnt present, the amp would barely work. was some ass backwards bullshit
