So, i just got everything down out of the way of the trans. and had my friend rock the shifter back and forth so i could make sure it WASNT the problem. turns out one of the bolts in the rouge shifter sheared, and stayed put so it looked in one piece, and was allowing about 2-3* of rotation on the shift rod. dont need new trans after all.. but new rouge lightweight flywheel and clutch are already in the mail.
SON OF A BITCH.
oh well. at least i found it before i put the shifter back in . now i just have to go to work and weld it in place.
