Obama is attempting to appease to young nerds by posting on Reddit. Maybe that clown should check out the rest of reddit so they shut that pedo haven down.

There's a lot of fucked up shit on Reddit. But there's also a lot of positive, proper discourse on the path the world's taking.

After reading a majority of the AMA comments, they don't seem to be too vitriol-filled or otherwise troll-heavy. They're genuine questions for the man in charge of our country, that people might not get a chance to ask otherwise. I'd say that's the exact point of Reddit there. It's done a lot of good things for the world. But, yes, there's fucked up shit in there, too.

That's the problem with deregulation and free enterprise. Until the system figures out how to 'work itself out,' there's gonna be people causing trouble like idiots. Reddit could easily shut down all NSFW parts of the site and monitor them aggressively, but then they won't be the bastion of Internet free speech that they currently are, and the site would undoubtedly fail as a result.

It's just like gun control; yes, most people who buy them are cool and totally legit, others will take them and slaughter people. But you can't just jack up gun regulations (or remove them entirely) to solve the problem.

I'd argue that it's not fair for all the good things that come from Reddit (anonymous donations to people in need, rallying for different causes, etc.) to disappear just because the NSFW half of the site can't keep its shit in check. Just like how it's not fair that "dey took mah gunz, Paw!" because some jackass colored his hair red and shot a bunch of people.

There's nothing wrong with promoting free speech, but at what point do you draw the line? I'm on another site that promotes free speech, but even they stop at allowing CP and that kind of stuff. There's just no place for that content on the internet or anywhere for that matter.

Try moderating the content on a site that huge, and tell me how long it lasts in the same form it was before.
