my wheels are currently 17x8.5 et40. What would 1.5" and 2.5" lips make them offset wise?

New offset would be 27.5 with 2.5" if ET40 with 1.5" lip.

I just were thinking of that, because only Original 1" lips has that back going feature.. so if ET40 on 1" lip, then 1.5" is ET33.65 and with 2.5" lip ET20.95
