Just made Ssgt so pay increase, I think the chief wants to hire me but job isn't going to post for a bit so I think he'll put me on orders till it does.
When it does I'll start as a GS-7 federal civilian pay grade which is about 45k a year.
Then he said it's going to transition to a GS-9 in a year or so which is 55k or so a year.
And I get a COL raise ever year with a step increase=more pay.

I have no idea what your MOS is, but don't let them trick you into gov positions unless you are just staying for the job security. Just because he says it's going to transition to a 9 doesn't mean you will get promoted, nor does it mean it actually will transition. Currently from 11 up is all locked up and I'm watching good people jump to contractor jobs because they can only stand getting gov pay for so long.

I'm a reservist with no civilian job ATM. This guy doesn't bullshit, and all the CST ART jobs are supposed to be GS9, awesome thing is alot of shit is going on in IT for the AF so its the time to join up and take advantage. Expect alot of all those GS 11+ jobs to open up in the next 10 years as the military changes and the old timers retire, some jobs may be going bye bye but IT is expanding quickly.
