  • Well, I was using a torque wrench that maxxed out at 80lbs, and matched that to another mechanical one just to be safe since one bolt seemed to be stretching. That shouldn't ever happen.

                So you tq'd it to 80 and did it again with another tq wrench, and it snapped when you were tq'n it again?

                • Not quite, I had it torqued to 60lbs. Took out the dial gauge craftsman and took some pressure off it, just to be certain it was ok. Then started to retorque it with the other one and snappidydoodah.

                              You shouldn't ever have to. I was also doing this under the supervision of a Mechanical Engineer and not even having him there helped to prevent this issue.
