One thing no one has touch upon on the topic is you need at the very least access to a welder, probably a chop saw and drill press will make things a hell of a lot easier, and a grinder with LOTS of cutting and grinding discs along with a space to store all that.
One good sourcs I read a lot of back in the day was Kimini's build. http://www.kimini.com/
He built a WHOLE car from scratch and has a ton of great resources.
In the end there are 2 methods to a project like this, dive in head first and hope for the best (like I always do) or read up plan out and do it right.Originally posted by JC.'Stance' doesn't have to be scraping your car along the floor, that is simply the scene that has caught on. Since there is some confusion and obviusly some people that cant read..
I never asked for an "step-by-step" guide on how to do this.
When I wrote this thread, it was a pure funbased request about the level of difficulty on a project like this. And I asked "In brief. How much work is it.." just to get a feel about that.
And, I dont want someone do to this for me, and I dont expect any at Stanceworks to be experts on this subject.
This is still just a wild thought about using my summer (and more..) doing something fun with a free car.
But I love the feedback!
So this is what I'm down to..
- Everything not needed inside car, get it out.
- Source new engine/trans, drivhafts and rear axel.(Still at burnoutpotential..)
- Read up on engine/trans mounts, same for rear axel.
- Figure how to line everything up.
Somewhere in the list above, start cutting!
Yeah, and before someone start h4ting againg, this is totaly new for me, so I guess that list will get alot LONGER.. haha.
Around here, bmw engines, old volvo "FK" turboengines and v8/v6 (chevy, ford, dodge etc.) are the easiest to source out. We are talking about Norway/Sweden her.
So, what kind of enginge would YOU choose?

I'd start with a carb'ed 350. You have to learn how to tune a carb but it is gonna be WAY less wiring and there is a lot of info on putting 350's in random stuff. Through All my searching and talking to people who do custom fab work there are not a whole lot of tricks or methods to making sure things are straight, just lots and lots of measuring and mock up over and over and over again.
The engine houldn't be too hard, the rear end is going to be the toughest part since factory is a solid axle so your goint to probably have to get a whole rear subframe out of a car and make it fit the 900. Read this http://www.stanceworks.com/forums/sh...ad.php?t=22294 A LOT of good into on custom fab and thinking ahead. Also gives you an idea of the scale of work your looking at.Originally posted by JC.'Stance' doesn't have to be scraping your car along the floor, that is simply the scene that has caught on.
