  • Why I have HOPE in the car scene..

I got to tell ya'll... for the most part, in my experience over the years, the car scene has been made mostly of pompous pricks who only care about letting the world know their car is the best.. it's like the tough guy in the gym.. not friendly and thinks the world revolves around him. This is the main reason I love everything about StanceWorks. It's about the people. Everyone is super positive and encouraging and wants to see everyone else's car shine. THAT is what it's all about. Cars come and go, but the people are here to stay.

So with that as the intro, Dexter from Tunerlifestyletv.com recently approached me about StanceWorks being a vendor at their upcoming event:

    Tunerlifestyletv presents: Night Sessions

He was very kind and most generous in his offer, but unfortunately it would mean us having to cancel other commitments and we just couldn't get the stars to align. I kindly thanked Dexter and just let him know I appreciated his efforts in continually growing the scene.

Instead of being disappointed, this guy found a way to make the most of the situation and proceeds to post the following on his website:

I was stunned, humbled and incredibly encouraged that people like Dexter are the ones at the forefront pushing the scene in their individual communities. It's because of people like this, who are able to turn negatives into positives, that I have hope in the future of the car scene. If you guys haven't gotten the chance, please take the time to check out Tunerlifestyletv.com.

Thank you Dexter for your efforts and know that your attitude has a big impact on the people around you. Keep doing what you do my friend!

I totally agree with you Ben. I used to be in the same mindset as you interms as thinking everyone was pompous and thought they were better then the next guy. Its not until recent were I found true love in the car enthusiast world were like minded people can get together and enjoy what we all love best.

With that said Dexter is a really cool guy and lover were the car scene is heading. Big ups to StanceWorks and Tunerlifestyetv.com

Wow that's so kind of him.
I'll check out his website more often and let my friends know about it.

I totally agree with everything said in this thread though. You guys sure got me inspired, hopefully I can bring more domestics and muscle cars to this side.

The first time i had even heard of StanceWorks was last summer when i was in Houston working for Boeing. I took my civic (at the time) over to 786 just about every weekend and talked with Amir and Ameen for hours. Even though 786 caters more to the drifting side of the house, they were a LOT more accepting of my little honda than i had anticipated.

                  /flashback

*edit - Anyways, that was my first impression of StanceWorks - right on target with the OP in this thread. An excellent forum, and I'm proud to be a [new] part of it.

                    Hey guys Dex here,

I want to say thanks for the support. I figure if everyone works together, it will foster more camaraderie in the scene. We ran into many obstacles trying to help the scene progress, but change does not come easy. We are doing our small part to contribute with a positive and professional attitude .

Stanceworks is the only forum sticker I put on my car. This is the reason why. Its not just another "car forum" its a community. Like a second family to me. Right next to facebook

It is a major relief to me that there is some 'realness' in the automotive scene. Everyone seems to get so caught up in the "My car has this" or "My car has that" that some people forget what it's really all about.

I'm very happy to read this. It's so nice to see that there are people out there other than this site that are dedicated to the scene, outside of the inevitable pissing matches that the "big" automotive scene has transformed into.

Like wheelfetish said, this is a community. The sense of "community" needs to be brought back.

I really gotta agree with you guys attitude and the positive energy in this forum is great and like none other. There might be some different tastes and opinions which is fine, but everyone here remains optimistic and thats what is great about it.
