I expected a gain of about 10%, based on the energy stored in the two different fuels.

I did do a little asshole driving on the way to the hospital last wednesday, and I did take a friend for a ride last night. That may not have helped the outcome.

Well if you think about e100 is around 113 so obviously less voltile. Now I do not know if 93 octane with e10 is the number after the added ethanol, but if it is not than you will be bringing the octane rating up to maybe 95 I would venture to guess. Plus it takes more ethanol to produce the same combustion as straight gas.
