I test drove an FR-S today and was impressed with everything but the engine. It's a slow piece of crap that sounds great.

Right. It's a really nice engine, it's just painfully slow and the car feels under-powered because of it. Great in the corners though.

The FR-S is a bit slow because it stays true to the original AE86. Lively underpowered engine that loves to rev in nicely handling chassis.

It is the car for a driving enthusiast, makes you drive the car hard to drive it fast because of the lack of straight up torque and power.

A magazine actually used my friend's AE86 Trueno for the comparison to the GT86/BRZ/FR-S and they said that they did a very good job of replicating the idea of the AE86 while improving on the comfort and modernizing it.

Not new. The used ones are already down to 22 with around 5-10k miles on them.
